Membership of the Edmonton Hundred Historical Society is open to everyone with an interest in the history of the locality.

The Edmonton Hundred - a term for a medieval administrative area - includes the modern Edmonton, Enfield, Potters Bar, Southgate, South Mimms, Monken Hadley, Tottenham and Wood Green.

The Society has an active programme of monthly talks on a wide variety of topics by guest speakers and society members, mostly in the evening, occasionally during the day.

All members receive a copy of the regular newsletter that contains articles, comments and particulars of future activities including visits to places of historical interest with booking details provided.

The Society enjoys links with other local groups and joins forces for meetings when the subject matter is of mutual interest.

For the past few years the Society has held a Day Conference on a winter Saturday focusing on an historical theme.

Over the years the Society has published more than 60 books on the history of the area and continues to add new publications to the catalogue. These publications are available to members at reduced prices.

The Society uses its influence for the preservation of local buildings and sites of historic interest. It can only do this with a strong and active membership for it relies on the members to keep it informed of impending changes which might lead to the destruction of some part of our heritage.
