Salmons Brook Flood scheme to go ahead

At a public meeting on the 12th November, Enfield Council waived through the Salmons Brook flood alleviation scheme which will reduce flooding in the Montagu Road area of Edmonton by providing a water storage embankment upstream at Grange Park. The N21 Observer August 2012

Complaints have been received from several distressed residents as to the condition of the Festival Tree, planted by the Deputy Mayor on June the 16th. Withered leaves and bare branches seemed to indicate that the Grim Reaper had passed by and that "our tree is dying!!".

Fear not.. in a dramatic scene (see  below) captured by our roving reporter the Reaper was vanquished by the brave actions of our very own N21 water sprite (D. L. Kirby) .

In a fierce battle during which much water was spilt, the tree was given a life-giving transfusion of N21 tap water, which as close observers will see, has revived the stricken  prunus, which has now sprouted new healthy green leaves..
A Hippo Bag, curtesy of London Borough of Enfield has also been wrapped around the trunk which has provided a resevoir for passing water sprites to fill with sustaining liquid. So its all good

The Olympic Torch passes through Enfield and N21
on Wednesday 25th July 2012 from approx 3 -5 pm

The London borough of Enfield is privileged to have the Olympic torch passing through the area and we should be doing all we can to support the people that have been chosen to walk or run with the torch.

Unlike some areas, the Olympic Torch passes through the Enfield borough and specifically N21 in the early afternoon, an ideal time to support the runners, our local community and businesses.

It is one of those once-in-a-lifetime events that can be the subject of stories long into the future as the Olympics are unlikely to return in the foreseeable future. 

If you can, try to go down to support the runners. The following map shows good places to stand and the people involved.

The all new Sainsburys Winchmore Hill re-opens

The refurbished and extended Winchmore Hill Sainsburys re-opened today, Thursday 14th June 2012.

Sainsburys laid on bucks fizz and a talented live singer, Millena Edmonds,  to add some razzmatazz to the occasion. Part of the N21 Festival team were there to see the crowds and to tell all those that still don't know about the Festival all about it.

Everything is new - even the lines in the car park ! We look forward to welcoming all our customers back to the store over the next week".

Sainsburys, who have made a substantial donation to the N21 Festival through their bags for life scheme, welcomed the team and wished them every success for the festivities, which begin on Saturday.
