The N21 Festival Charities "Over the moon"  

The N21 Festival organisers were proud to present each of the three nominated charities - The Alzheimers Society Enfield, The National Autistic Society Enfield, and The Noah's Ark childrens Hospice with a cheque for £4735 at a ceremony on Winchmore Hill Green on Saturday 13th October 2012.

The charities were overwhelmed by the size of the donation and assured The organisers that the money would be well spent. The monies raised by The Festival activities, including sponsorship, advertising, ticket sales, raffles and donations were in the end quite amazing. The cheques were in addition to the amounts the charities collected themselves and donations that went directly to the charities.

Hugh Humphrey, the founder of The N21 Festival gave a short speech, reproduced here.

"Just before we come to the charities, we'd  like to say something to the organisers... 

It was only because the volunteers gave up so much of their time and energies to get the support and following we achieved, that are we here today .

We can't thank the organisers of the N21 Festival enough. You have put This Green back on the map and captured people's imagination for a moment . 

What you did was unique and Ann and I want to thank you , not only personally from our hearts but from the people of the area.

We received numerous cards, letters and personal thanks from so many people after the Fancy Fair and those thanks are also to you .

Thank- you for your belief
Thank-you for your dedication
And thank you for actually doing it.

We did it and we did it with enthusiasm, respect and humour.

You should be proud because we had no track record, we made it up as we went along, it had never been done in living memory and we had many people saying it would never work,

but we carried on .

What we achieved really hits home again as we attempt to try to do another event here on The Green .

There are so many reasons why we can't or shouldn't create this amazing event again. But we will because we believe this is what this green is for - people uniting together in a community to bring happiness and hope to a very special area of north london.

We were so focused at every stage to make the events good and all involving that we were surprised we made money ! These community things rarely do.

The fact that we did make money is due to three things

Firstly, The generosity of all the sponsors, from the small gift donations for the raffle to the huge monetary donations . In particular Enfield Council, Havillands Estate Agents, Russdales Flooring and Sainsburys. Thank-you again to ALL the N21 Festival sponsors , thank -you for your show of support, which we really needed along the way but most of all thanks for the money !

Secondly the support of the people of the area that bought tickets, made donations at events or bought items we had for sale. Thank -you thank-you for making the effort to come out to the events.

Thirdly 
The tens of thousands of hours that we estimate the volunteers gave up for free to make the Festival happen . It did get tough but it was worth it  - always remember we created the best event in the area in living memory - wow !

Now to the charities, after a great deal of effort we chose the Alzheimer's society, Noah's Ark children's hospice and the Enfield branch of the national autistic society. We were really pleased with the spread of the charities as we felt they represented the community . So it gives me great pleasure to present the charities each with an enormous cheque, both literally and monetary for £4,735 each.
