It was a huge relief on a quiet Monday evening to have so many enthuseastic people turn up to the first N21 Festival meeting.

We are holding a meeting on Monday 11th July and would like to invite you to become involved in the N21 Festival planned for June next year.

We would like to meet with you personally and to tell you first-hand about our ideas and to hopefully get your involvement and support to make the festival a very enjoyable and successful event.

The Festival celebrate's Henrietta Cresswells book about Winchmore Hill

It shares it's anniversary with other organisations in the area ..

Henrietta Cresswell published her book in 1912 to help The Holy Trinity Church raise funds. There was much change in the area from the turn of the century as the railway established itself in Winchmore Hill and huge tranches of land were sold off after the death of John Donnithorne Taylor, the owner of Grovelands. He had successfully stopped the building plans of developers by buying up the land around his estate. Although the sale of the land did mean that Winchmore Hill and the surrounding area were changed beyond recognition forever, the Southgate Council did have the foresight to purchase what is now known as Grovelands Park, which celebrates it's centenary in 2013.

The Southgate District Civic trust, established in 1962, celebrates it's half-century of doing good in 2012 .

Winchmore Hill Tennis Club celebrates it's centenary in 2012

Grovelands Park celebrates it's centenary in 2013, and The Friends of Grovelands hope to organise a celebration. At the opening in April 1913 around 20,000 attended.

The N21 Festival is being organised to celebrate the centenary of the Henrietta Cresswell book Winchmore Hill:Memories of a lost village , and we will be making a film that reflects the book, the author and the way Winchmore Hill has changed from those far-off days. Planning for the N21 Festival

We are in the process of making people aware of the Festival date next year around the area and have included details in the leaflet drop we are doing to publicise the Art Exhibition to be held at The Kings Head on 1st and 2nd May 2011 - The weekend of the Royal Wedding. So look out for the leaflet dropping through your door in the coming couple of weeks. We are also pulling together a team of people to organise the different aspects of the Festival. We want it to be a fun week with a great final celebration on Winchmore Hill Green on Saturday 23rd June 2012. We honestly believe that it will take this long to organise a successful, worthwhile and safe event in Winchmore Hill in 2012.
We will still be doing the Art sale at The Kings Head in May 2011.

What about the Olympics ?

We will plan to avoid the Olympics.

What do you have in mind for the Winchmore Hill Festival ?

We are open minded, but we would like to see an event on Winchmore Hill Green involving local businesses, schools and the community, maybe featuring local musical talent and even fireworks - who knows?  We would also like to see a week of events that could be publicised together to support business, schools, pubs and restaurants and local charities. These sort of events occur in may small towns across the country - so why can't we do it ?

No, any profits made from the organisation of the Winchmore Hill Festival will be given to Charity. Naturally we hope that local N21 businesses will profit from the event.
